Stronger against fraud

New securisation of your online payments and SMS services

We have launched an enhanced securisation of the online payments, conform the European PSD2 regulation. This way we continue to keep the risk on fraud low.

AirPlus has implemented the new rules to become SCA compliant. You will notice a change in the layout of the merchant pages during the 3D Secure payment process. Almost all online transactions will need to be authenticated with a one-time password sent via SMS to the cardholder’s recorded mobile phone number.

AirPlus launched the second factor for authentication: a password that the cardholder needs to define. The cardholder will be invited to define his password on a secured web portal from AirPlus fully dedicated to the 3D Secure service. Almost all online transactions will require the usage of two authentication factors.

New SMS services

To further improve our services, we are working intensively on new ways to protect our customers against fraud. For instance, the Card Holder will receive an SMS in the future if we identify a fraud on his/her card.

What is Strong Customer Authentication?

Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) is a new European regulatory requirement to reduce fraud and make online payments more secure. To accept payments once SCA goes into effect, you will need to build additional authentication into your checkout flow. SCA requires authentication to use at least two of the following three elements you see on the left.
